Idella P. OWENS, 87, passed away Saturday, March 20, 2010. She was born in Currituck County. She was the daughter of the late Vernon and Carrie PARKER. She is also preceded in death by her loving husband of 32 years, Marrol S. OWENS. Idella was an active student at Poplar Branch High School. She graduated from Norfolk General Hospital School of Nursing in WWII. She was head nurse of a floor the following week. She and her fellow graduates working the home front and the Army Nursing Corps remained in contact the next 65 years. She proudly graduated from Old Dominion University with a BS degree in Education. She taught at Virginia Beach and Norfolk schools and retired from Norfolk Public School System. She is survived by two sons, Marrol OWENS and wife, Joyce, of Chesapeake, and M. David OWENS of Norfolk; Siblings, Edlgar PARKER of Chesapeake and Geraldine RYDER of Denver.
