James Hannon Kellis, born in Wickenburg, Maricopa Co., AZ - Son of James Augustus Kellis and Onah Locklin.

Brother of Elward Martin Kellis.

James married 1st, Edith Ceclia Schaaf, a daughter of Raphael Schaaf and Mary Stockert. James later married, 16 July 1967 in Medford, Jackson Co., OR, Mrs. Elsie Eiden Endsley.

Father of (by Edith) Richard, Gary, Janet Kellis.
Father of (by Elsie) Shannon Kellis. Step-Father of Nadara Ruth and William Earl Endsley.

Grandson of Augustus Josephus Kellis & Harriet Jane Martin and Samuel Lloyd Locklin & Nancy Mehalia Carolyn "Carrie" Knieff.

A memorial service and inurnment will be held June 18 for James Hannon Kellis of Crooked River Ranch, formerly of Springfield, who died June 7 of congestive heart failure. He was 83.

Kellis was born Feb. 12, 1922, in Wickenburg, Ariz., to James and Ouna [Onah] Lockin Kellis. He married Elsie Endsley on July 16, 1967, in Medford.

He grew up in Wickenburg, Ariz., where he graduated from high school in 1940. He served in the Army 29th Bomb Disposal Squad in World War II from 1942 to 1945 and received the Bronze Star.

He moved to Springfield after completing his education. He worked for Pacific Intermountain Express in Eugene for 30 years, retiring in 1981. Kellis enjoyed fishing, camping, hunting, woodworking and spending time with his family. He also enjoyed his church at the Crooked River Ranch.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, Richard of Springfield and Gary of Eugene; three daughters, Janet Smith of Sutherlin, Nadara Lewis of Crooked River Ranch and Shannon Sicocan of Redmond; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. A son, Earl, died in 1987.

The June 18 memorial service will be held at noon in the chapel at Crooked River Ranch. Inurnment will follow at 4 p.m. at Deschutes Memorial Gardens in Bend.

Deschutes Memorial Chapel in Bend is in charge of arrangements.
