FAIR HAVEN - Russell Donald Berry, 71, died June 23, 2013, at Rutland Regional Medical Center.He was born in Barre on Feb. 11, 1942, the son of Bertha Berry and Pearly Devenger.

His earlier years were spent at Brandon Training School. He later made his home with the Pond family in Brandon for many years.

He worked at Rutland Bowlerama for many years, traveling back and forth via bus.

He had been a part of the Rooney family of Castleton since 1994.

He enjoyed smoking his pipe, country music and puzzles.

Survivors include three aunts, Verla Hudson of Wheelock, and Virginia Powers and Velma Stevens, both of Lyndonville, and his care providers, the Rooney family of Castleton. He was predeceased by his parents, his earlier care providers the Pond family, and two aunts.

The graveside committal service and burial will be held Tuesday, July 2, 2013, at 1 p.m. at Pine Hill Cemetery in Brandon.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to: The Special Olympics of Vermont, 16 Gregory Drive, Suite 2, South Burlington, VT 05403.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Miller & Ketcham Funeral Home in Brandon.
