Hazel Marie Kvach, 95, of Cedar Rapids, died Monday, October 6, 2008 in Grand Junction, Colorado. Services will be 10:00 a.m., Monday, October 13, 2008 at Kenwood Park United Methodist Church. Burial will follow in Cedar Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2 until 5 p.m. Sunday at Brosh Chapel in Cedar Rapids, temporarily located at 3100 F Avenue NW, Cedar Rapids.

Hazel was born April 21, 1913 in Maxwell, Iowa, the daughter of Jesse D. and Rose Ann Tomlinson Slaughter. She married Louis J. Kvach on May 2, 1933. Hazel was inducted into the Cedar Rapids Women's Bowling Hall of Fame in November of 1983. She was a member of Kenwood Park United Methodist Church, Eagles Auxiliary 2272, American Legion Auxiliary 5, and Women's Relief Corp.

Hazel is survived by her children, Robert (Gayle) Kvach, James (Loretta) Kvach of Cedar Rapids, Donald (Alty Malone) Kvach of Marion, Loretta (Don) Vanourney, and Judy (Bob, deceased) Owens of Grand Junction, Colorado; 16 grandchildren; and 21 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Louis J. Kvach on September 14, 1976, six brothers, and three sisters.
