A. B. Carter

Arthur Benjamin Carter, former Montgomery Countian, died at his home in Greenville Monday morning, March 10th, after an illness of three weeks. Services were held at the First Methodist Church in Greenville Wednesday afternoon, March 12th, at two o'clock with the Rev. Thad Ferrell and the Rev. T. Russell Nunan officiating. Interment was in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens with National Funeral Home in charge.

Mr. Carter was born in Carroll county March 29, 1873, the son of the late Michael Franklin and Margaret Obiah Alexander Carter who were among the pioneer settlers in this area. He farmed for many years near Hollandale and had lived in Greenville since retiring in 1944. He was a faithful member of the Methodist Church a loving husband and father.

He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Fannie Lee Williams Carter Greenville; a son, Frank Carter of Glen Allan; two daughters, Mrs. Emmett Neal of Greenville and Mrs. Louis Keith, Hollandale; two foster daughters, Mrs. Myrtice Misho and Mrs. Vesper Pritchett of Greenville; four sisters, Mrs. L. B. Austin, Mrs. G. A. Carwile, Mrs. S. L. Biggers, Winona, Mrs. J. W. Stovall, Memphis; ten grandchildren, two foster grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.
