MRS. JOSEFA BERNASEK

Josefa Bernasek was born at Hlnce kraj Pizen okres Kravloice Bohemia, February 17, 1862. She was the daughter of Frank Fjuan and Mary Ziksa. She came to this country with Mr. and Mrs. Frank Holzinger and her brother, John Fujan, reaching this country on Good Friday in 1879. With the same immigration group, came the family of Joe Bernasek, whose son Frank she married November 6, 1883. They made their home west of Milligan, where they lived until 1926, when they moved to Milligan to spend the remaining years of their lives. Her death occurred June 4, 1942.

Eight children were born to this union, two of whom died in infancy. There remain to mourn her departure her husband, three sons, Joseph, Frank, and James, and three daughtesr, Mrs. Frank (Mary) Laun, Mrs. Charles (Christine) Krupicka, Mrs. Frank (Emma) Houser, also twelve grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

She was a member of the Lodge Cechie No. 122, Z.C.B.J. of Milligan, whose members accompanied her to her last resting place in the north cemetery.

Mrs. Bernasek was a kind mother and good wife. She was quiet in her demeanor, and brought up her family to be good men and women and good citizens. She was on eof the pioneer mothers, being at the time of her death 80 years, 3 months, and 17 days old.
