Jane's birth record {printed version Massachusetts Vital Records to 1850 at AmericanAncestors -NEHGS} says she was born Feb. 6, 1829, but the stone says 1830. She was the daughter of Leonard Carpenter and Matilda Reynolds.

Jane and Provostus registered the births of four children on the same day. Sarah J, Emily, Caroline, Adam P.
