Myrtle Jeanette Hill, 97, of Bemidji died Monday, July 4, 1994, at North Country Regional Hospital. Funeral services were at First Lutheran Church of Bemidji. Interment was in Greenwood Cemetery.

Mrs. Hill was born Feb. 8, 1897, in St. Paul, the daughter of William and Jennie Carlson. She moved with her family to their homestead in Maple Ridge Township of Beltrami County in 1905. She attended Wilcox School in Maple Ridge Township until the school burned and then went to school in Puposky. She was married Oct. 11, 1922, in Bemidji to William Hill. They lived in Blackduck, Puposky, Northome, Kelliher and Redby and moved in 1943 from Puposky to Bemidji, where she had lived since. Her husband died June 27, 1952. She was a member of Our Redeemer’s Lutheran Church in Puposky since it was built in 1938. She was a member of the Senior Citizens Twilight Club and the East Bemidji Farmers Club.

She is survived by two daughters, Dolores (Don) Stokes of Greenville, Calif., and Gloria (Bud) Woodard of Bemidji; two sons, LeRoy (Lois) Hill and Don “Pail” (Ardis) Hill, both of Bemidji; 19 grandchildren; 46 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; a special friend, Virginia Benson of Bemidji; several nieces; and a nephew.

In additions to her husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Russell: two granddaughters; a great-grandson; and a sister, Cleo Smith.
