"Rev. Benjamin A. Gurney, was born in Stanford, NY Aug. 24, 1825. His parents were in the Society of Friends. In 1858, he was baptized by Rev. William Bonar, near Cambridge, Illinois. In December 1860, he received from Walnut Quarterly Meeting a license to preach. He has served as clerk of the QM for many years and has supplied the churches as a minister, retaining the esteem of all."
