Dr. Nancy Lee Tipton Brandt, 73, of Shiremanstown died Sunday, Jan. 9, 2005, in Select Specialty Hospital at Holy Spirit Hospital, East Pennsboro Township.

Born June 4, 1931, in Union, S.C., she was the daughter of the late Virgie Tipton Stapleton.

Dr. Brandt was a 1952 graduate of the South Carolina Baptist Hospital Nursing Program, a 1981 graduate of St. Joseph College in Portland, Maine, where she earned her bachelor's degree in health care administration, and a 1985 graduate of Columbia Pacific University, where she earned her master's degree in health service administration. In 1986, she was awarded a Ph.D. in health service administration from Columbia Pacific University.

She was employed as a certified occupational health registered nurse with the former Capital Products Corp. in Mechanicsburg, a subsidiary of Tredagar Industries, for the next 18 years until her retirement. She also was active in many professional organizations and published several research articles in the field of occupational health.

She was an active member of the Shiremanstown United Methodist Church and a Past Royal Matron of the Willard Waterman Court 54, Order of the Amaranth.

Dr. Brandt is survived by her husband of 52 years, Robert E. Brandt; a son, David E. Brandt of Shiremanstown; a daughter, Jacqueline B. Maddison of Voorhees, N.J.; two uncles, Leonard H. Tipton and John Durham Tipton, both of Union, S.C.; an aunt, Sibbie Tipton of Union, S.C.; three grandchildren; and several cousins.

She was preceded in death by a son, Stephen Kent Brandt, who died in 1972.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in Shiremanstown United Methodist Church, 125 E. Main St., Shiremanstown, with the Rev. John L. Kurtz officiating. Burial will be in St. John Cemetery, Shiremanstown.

Friends may call from 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday in the church.

Parthemore Funeral Home and Cremation Services, New Cumberland, is in charge of the arrangements.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Shiremanstown United Methodist Church Building Fund, 125 E. Main St., Shiremanstown, PA 17011.
