Elizabeth Josephine Adams was born March 26, 1866 to Mathias Adams and Annie M. Weins in Beetown, Wisconsin, one of 12 children born to the couple.
She followed her religious vocation to the Ursuline Order at the Catholic Mission in St. Ignatius, Lake County, Montana, where she was Mother Superior for the entire order. Her vocation impressed two younger siblings, who joined the same order and in Montana (Sr. Gertrude and Mother Mary Emanuel).
