George William Hacker
WILSON -- Services for George William Hacker, 90, will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 29, 2002, at the Assembly of God Church in Wilson. Interment will follow at Hewitt Cemetery.
George was born Feb. 28, 1912, in Oswalt, Okla., to Will and Lucy Ashburn Hacker. He departed this life on May 26, 2002, at the local hospital.
A lifelong resident of the Wilson area, he married Lillie Ellen Stafford on Oct. 24, 1933, in Ardmore. He worked at Lake Murray during the Works Progress Administration days. During World War II, he was employed by McDonnell Douglas Aircraft Company in Oklahoma City working on the B-29 bombers used in Germany. When the war was over, he moved back to the country near Wilson and became a farmer and rancher. He also worked in the oil fields as a pumper later on. He attended The Country Tabernacle in Cheek and was a very faithful man.
George was loved by all his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren and cherished the times he shared with them.
Preceding him in death were his parents; three sisters, Lucille Hacker, Susie Smith and Pauline Norton; a brother, Otto Hacker; and a granddaughter, Sherrie Diane Hacker.
He is survived by his wife, Lillie Ellen Hacker, of the home in Wilson; a daughter, Vera Mae Williams and her husband, Bobby, of Wilson; four sons, Gilbert "Gil" Hacker and his wife, Becky, of Wilson, Billy Bob Hacker and his wife, Carrie, of Wilson, Kenneth Hacker and his wife, Jane, and Loran Hacker and his wife, Peggy, all of Lone Grove; four sisters, Alice Davis and Pansy Norton, Lone Grove, Mildred Lee and Maxine Gray of Wilson; two brothers, J.L. Hacker and Billy Floyd Hacker, Wilson; 18 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
Bearers are Jimmie Norton, David Norton, Billy Gene Lee, Ronnie Gray, Mickey Davis and Leslie Hacker. Honorary bearers are the remaining nephews.
The family will receive friends from 3 to 5 p.m. today at Craddock Funeral Home.
