Rev. Berggren was a well-known and respected Lutheran minister in the Chicago area for nearly 30 years. He had previously served parishes in Stockton, CA and South Bend, IN. He retired to Oxford, WI where he continued his ministry as interim pastor at several churches in the area. Rev. Berggren fulfilled many important missions during his career, including the erection of two new church buildings, the revival of Christ the King in the Loop (downtown Chicago), the completion of a book on the power of tithing, and the procurement of the Ecce Homo statue for the Bethany College campus. Rev. Berggren was outspoken in his drive for world peace and social justice. He was a true social activist who defended the equal rights of minorities and refugees. Rev. Berggren will be fondly remembered for his heartfelt sermons and thorough dedication to both his faith and his family.
