John Eason Edwards, of Orangeburg, died June 23, 2013, following a brief illness.

Mr. Edwards was born February 17, 1926 in Horry County, SC, son of the late Reverend and Mrs. Quincy Otto Edwards.

He graduated from Loris High School and then entered the US Navy, where he served his country during WWII.

Mr. Edwards retired from Westvaco Paper. He was an active member at St. George Baptist Church, where he enjoyed visiting his church family and working with the prison ministry.

Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Clarice Hudson Edwards; four sisters, Myrtle Eubanks of Charleston, Wilma Harris and husband, Levon, Joann Stevens and Carolyn Tyler and husband, Jimmy all of Loris, SC and a number of nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held at 10:00 am, June 26, 2013, at Memorial Park Cemetery, with the Reverend Brad Chandler officiating. Visitation will be held, June 25, 2013, from 6:00 until 7:00 pm at Dukes-Harley Funeral Home.
