"Flossie May Powning passed away in her home on July 1, 2009 at the age of 96 of natural causes. Her loved ones were at her side. Flossie is survived by her daughter Carole Elliott; two sons, Dennis and Thomas Powning; seven grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild. Five generations on her daughter Carole's side, all lived close by in Auburn. Flossie was born on May 9, 1913 in Standrod, Utah and had been active in her church, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints all her life. She had been employed by the Auburn Elementary School Cafeteria Program for 25 years until she retired in the 70's.
Graveside Services were held on July 9, 2009 at the Newcastle cemetery attended by family and friends. Bishop Mark Abel presided over the services, gave the Eulogy and Dedicatory Prayer. She a was a shining light to all who knew her. We miss her cheerful smile."
