In Washington City, on the 6th instant, after a short illness of typhoid fever, William B. Carrico, in the 76th year of his age, for the last 58 years, a resident of Washington and for 24 years past faithful watchman in the Navy Yard. He was an honest man, one of God's greatest works.

His body has returned to dust
His limbs mold in the ground,
I hope the Lord will him reward
With an immortal crown.

It is believed that William Carrico was the oldest son of Joseph Carrico and his wife, Elizabeth Amelia Demar, married in Prince George's County, Maryland on 5 Dec. 1781.

He served as a Pvt. in Capt. William Daugherty's Company of the DC Militia, War of 1812.

William married first to Sarah Moore Berry on 23 October 1808. They had a daughter, Mary Eleanor Carrico who was born 1 Oct. 1809. After the death of Sarah, William married Mary Lucretia Anderson.

Served in War of 1812, Private, Washington Militia. Dates of service July 18 to 26, 1814 and August 19 to October 8, 1814.
