William J. "Bill" Schmidt, 75, a retired Frankfort businessman, died at 3:15 PM Monday, March 24, 1986, in Clinton County Hospital, following a brief illness. Born in Lafayette, Sept. 12, 1910, he came to Frankfort in 1963. His first marriage was Tereasa R. Morin. In 1952, he married Opal Nosler; she died May 1, 1965.

Mr. Schmidt was the retired owner of Krusty Dog Food Co. in Frankfort and served as president of the Clinton County Fair Board from 1965 until 1967. He was a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church and Kennel Club, both in Lafayette, and Indiana Trotting Association. He also was a former member of Frankfort Country Club and Moose and Elks lodges.

Surviving are two sons, James W. Schmidt and Charles J. Schmidt, both of Lafayette; four daughters, Judith K. McDaniel, Patricia A. Hubble, Barbara G. Walsh, all of Frankfort, and Viola O. Wilson of Champaign, IL; a brother, Herbert Schmidt of Lafayette; 16 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. Service at Goodwin Funeral Home, Frankfort, March 27, with Father Joseph Ruffing officiating; internment Greenlawn Cemetery, Frankfort.
