Marvin D. Casey, 84, of McGregor, died Friday, April 17, 2009 at the Great River Care Center in McGregor, following a long illness. Funeral services were Wednesday, April 22, at Bible Baptist Church in Prairie du Chien, Wisc. with burial in Pleasant Grove Cemetery in McGregor. Military honors will be accorded at the cemetery. Marvin was born March 20, 1925 at Lineville to Paul and L. Connie (Evans) Casey. He graduated from Seymour High School in 1943. He then entered the Army Air Force at Dodge City, Kan. in June of 1943. He trained as a twin engine pilot, was stationed in Lincoln, Neb. from February to May of 1945 and then to Lake Charles, La. until his discharge in August 1945. He married Helen Burghart in May of 1945. He received a BA degree in Industrial Arts from Iowa State. They moved to Oxford, where he taught school. They later moved to Traer, and he taught at the Geneseo Consolidated Schools for 13 years and then taught at Dysart for 12 years. Helen died in 1971. Marvin married Karen Haltom in March of 1972. They moved to McGregor, in the summer of 1976. He worked in construction for a few months before going to 3M where he worked until 1988. Karen died in 2006. He was a member of the American Legion and Bible Baptist Church. He is survived by two sons: Robert (Karla) Casey of Traer, IA, Randy Casey of Naples, FL; two daughters: Utoni (Robert) Ruff of Garnavillo, Tahra (Curt) Ferguson of Marquette; six grandchildren: Tyler, Chelsi, Megan, Kayla, Jacob, and Mackenzy; two great grandchildren: Amanda and Nicole; one sister Madge Knutson of Allerton, sister-in-law Yvonne Casey of Humeston, and a brother Howard (Inez) Casey of Ankeny.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two wives, a son Mark, a grandson Robert, Jr., a brother Max and an infant sister.
