WILBERT JAMES BRONKHORST

Wilbert James Bronkhorst, 75, of 737 Western Ave., Fond du Lac, died Wednesday, Nov. 7, 2001, at Hospice Home of Hope after a courageous battle with cancer.

He was born on Jan. 3, 1926, in Brandon, the only son of the late Ben and Gladys Kettler Bronkhorst.

On Sept. 16, 1950, he married Bette Schuppert In Oshkosh. After her death, he married Verna Erler inWest Bend. They were married more than 33 years.

He graduated from Brandon High School and managed JC Penney stores for many years. He also worked for Tempo Stores, Kentron Drug and Brenner Tank. He retired from Brenner Tank in 1993.

He was an active member of Salem United Methodist Church. He enjoyed golf, gardening, playing cards and spending time with his family.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by three daughters, Nancy (Tom) Yaeger, Riverside, Calif. Jo (Ray) Resch, Madison, and Mary (Allen Wichlacz, Marathon; three sons, Tom (Barb) Bronkhorst, Amery, Bob (Julie) Bronkhorst, La Crosse and Scott Bronkhorst, Sussex; three step-daughters, Sandy (Bob) Fretschel, Waupun, Candee (Steve) smith, McFarland, and Joy Rouse, Rothschild; 14 grandchildren; a sister, Marie (Dave) Vande Zande, Brandon; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

In addition to his parents and first wife, he was preceded in death by an infant son, John Bronkhorst.

Services: The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 12, 2001, at Salem United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Barry Watson officiating. Burial will be at Wedges Prairie Cemetery, Ladoga.

Visitation: Friends and relatives may call from 4 to 8 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 11 at Mach Funeral Chapel and from 10 a.m. until the time of service on Monday, Nov. 12, at the church.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be sent to Hospice Home of Hope, Fond du Lac.

Mach Funeral Chapel is serving the family.
