Howard J. Hopkins, 89, Neosho, entered into rest on June 20, 2013 at Seneca House, Seneca, following an illness. He was born May 04, 1924 in Craig County, OK to Albert and Ova (Smith) Hopkins.
Howard came to Neosho from Ok in 1928 and was a lifelong area resident. He worked as a printer for the Joplin Globe from 1958 until 1986. He then retired to the home he built himself using limestone he handpicked. He was a member of Rocketdyne Rd. Church of Christ.
Howard married Erna Anna Weber on October 21, 1948 in Straubing, Germany and she preceded him in death on November 29, 2007. He is survived by four children; Cynthia Hopkins of Mount Pleasant, WI, Dennis Hopkins and companion Pamela Vorhees of Neosho, MO, Sandra Craig and husband, Scott of Kansas City, KS, David Hopkins and wife, Kelli of Columbia, MO.; grandchildren, Julie Harris Simon of Boca Raton, FL, Jeremy Harris of Phoenix, AZ, Benjamin Harris Hopkins of Racine, WI, Andrew and wife Claudia Craig of Overbrook, KS, Jacqueline Craig Suptic of Overland Park, KS.; great-grandchildren, Rileigh Smith-Hopkins, Harper Smith-Hopkins, Gabriel Suptic, Reagan Craig, Thatcher Craig, Frances Craig. Along with his parents and wife, Howard is preceded in death by a brother, Otis Hopkins; sister, Ruby Winchester; grandson-in-law, Don Simon; great-granddaughter, Adora Blessed Craig; Nieces, Linda Winchester, Carole Denefrio, Kathryn McKay Danner; brother-in-laws, Clarence Winchester, Pat Denefrio, LeRoy Allison.
