Phyllis Olson, age 74, of Algona, Iowa died on Thursday June 20, 2013 at her home. Funeral services will be 1:30 PM Monday at Lentz Funeral Home in Algona, with Rev. Todd Weiland officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery in Britt. Visitation will be 5:30 – 7:30 PM Sunday at the Lentz Funeral Home in Algona.
Phyllis Ann Weiland, the daughter of Raymond and Dorothy (Angle) Weiland, was born on June 30, 1938 in Algona, Iowa. She graduated from Titonka High School in 1957. On April 8, 1961 Phyllis was united in marriage with Larry E. Olson at the United Methodist Church in Wesley. She had worked for 20 years as a Deputy Treasurer for Kossuth County. Phyllis enjoyed family vacations, boating and spending time with her family.
Left to cherish Phyllis's memory is her husband of 52 years, Larry; two daughters, Kim Opheim and her husband Dan of Cylinder and Shellie Payton and her husband David of Powhatan, Arkansas; a son, Stacy Olson of Littleton, Colorado; five grandchildren; two great grandchildren; and two brothers, Wendall Weiland and his wife Mary of Algona and Ron Weiland and his wife Celi of Algona. She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Kendall Weiland; and two sister-in-laws, Beverly and Elaine Weiland.
