Mr. Samuel Alston Bright, aged 77 years, died after a lingering illness at the Fort Sanders Hospital in Knoxville Saturday afternoon, September 14, 1940. He was reared in Fayetteville and was a son of that eminent statesman who represented the district in congress for ten years, the Honorable John M. Bright and Mrs. Zurilda Buckner Bright. On reaching manhood, he left Fayetteville and went to Tellico Plains where he was successful in business and for a number of years was president of the bank at that place. Socially, he was a genial and agreeable gentleman whose circle of friends were limited only by his acquaintance. The remains were brought to Fayetteville and service was conducted at the Southern Presbyterian Church by the Rev. W. T. Clarke and burial in Rose Hill Cemetery. Survived by one brother, M. M. Bright of Fayetteville.
