Uncle Fred Boroff was born on the family farm, near Mendon, Mercer County, Ohio.
He served in the U.S. Army from 4 October 1917, to 17 February 1919, rising to the rank of Corperal.
Returning home he married Calista E. "Tommie" Rice.
Fred and Tommie, traveled across Oklahoma, Texas and Colorado, following his work in the Oil Fields. Finaly settling in Marvel, La Plata County, Colorado in 1942 and lived out their lives in this community. Fred was involved in the Leashin and promotion for the oil wells and had worked in several of the major oil fields throughout the United States. He worked for Hathaway Oil Company for several years, and he and Tommie traveled from one boom town to another during the time Fred worked in the oil fields.
Uncle Fred was an avid sportsman and each year hunting buddies would descend into Marvel to go hunting with him. Calista, whom everybody knew as Aunt Tommie, was an excellent cook and was camp cook for the hunters.
Uncle Fred and his brother Curtis H. Boroff, were oil field pioneers, and brought the first Oil Field Drilling Rig to the fields near Marvel, Colorado.
Uncle Fred a veteran of WWI, passed away in Pueblo, Colorado. He was cremated, and his ashes scattered near Marvel, Colorado.
