Rita J. Benson, Glendale, AZ 97, formerly of Chazy, NY, Port Chester, NY, Monroe Twp, NJ, and Thunderbird Retirement Resort in Glendale AZ, passed away on Thursday, June 20, 2013 at Hospice of the Valley in Arizona.

Rita was born in Chazy, NY on June 15, 1916 the daughter of William and Julia (Boulrice) West. Rita graduated from Chazy Rural School. She obtained her Registered Nursing License and began working at the Hepburn Hospital in Ogdensburg, NY, United Hospital in Port Chester, NY and later retiring in 1983 from the Westchester County Visiting Nurse Association. She was a former member of Sacred Heart Church in Chazy, NY and St. Raphael's in Glendale AZ.

Survivors include one daughter, Patricia E. Asta of Peoria, AZ, brother, John West of Plattsburgh, and numerous nieces and nephews. Rita was predeceased by her first husband David Asta; her second husband, Maurice Benson; five sisters: Lillian Cote, Mae Herminie West, Alice Palmer, Georgiana Anderson, Elizabeth Gregware; and seven brothers, Alfred, Leo, Norman, Lawrence, Monroe, Joe, and Homer.
