Obituary from the News Review:
Age 68, born May 14,1944, at St. Vincent's hospital in Portland, Oregon, to Lionel and Dulcy Mae Hillmick, passed away March 3, 2013, in Roseburg, Oregon. Judy attended school in Dillard, Oregon, where her family resided, until her Junior year of high school when she moved to Roseburg, Oregon. She went on to graduate from Roseburg Senior High School in 1962, but remained very close to many of her high school friends that she had grown up with at Douglas High School and because of this, enjoyed helping to plan all of Douglas High School's reunions. She recently celebrated her 50th class reunion with her friends from Douglas High School class of 1962 in 2012. In 1962, Judy married Ronald Kendrick who passed away in 1996. Out of that union, they had two daughters: Shelly Renee and Wendy Marie. In 1975, Judy married the love of her life, John Hale and in 1977 they were blessed with a son, Douglas John Hale. Judy was a wonderful wife and mother. Always active in her children's lives. Girl Scouts with her daughters, Boy Scouts with her son. She would do anything for anyone. Judy loved to talk and enjoyed her family and friends and talking about fun times and about her grandchildren. In 2000, following the birth of her grandson, Bradley Steele, who was born missing his ribcage and required 16-hour a day nursing care, Judy went back to school and became a Certified Nursing Assistant. She wanted to provide help in any way possible for her daughter and son-in-law and began working for Maxim Nursing Agency providing in home-care for Bradley. She enjoyed her time with her grandchildren so very much. Judy also worked for Rosehaven Nursing Center in Roseburg, Oregon, for several years. She loved caring for others. Judy loved to go camping and spending time with her husband, John, who she loved beyond words. She left us too soon and will be missed for a lifetime. She was preceded in death by her parents, Lionel "Mick" Hillmick and Dulcy Mae (Larsen) Hillmick. She is survived by her husband, of 38 years, John Hale of Roseburg; mother-In-Law, Ruth Hale of Roseburg; father-in-law, Harvey Hale and wife Jane of Roseburg; daughter, Shelly Kendrick-Steele and husband Tom of Roseburg; granddaughters: Patti Steele of Chula Vista, California; Becki Steele of Winston, Oregon; Keri Cole and husband Tyler of Winston, Oregon; grandsons: Bradley and Skyler Steele; daughter, Wendy Kendrick-Douglas and husband Patrick of Kona, Hawaii; son, Douglas John Hale, wife Tammie, and granddaughter, Kaiya Goulart of Chula Vista, California; step-daughter, Jackie Wickliffe and grandsons: Andrew John and Brent Daniel of Overland Park, Kansas; brothers: Roy Hillmick and wife Barbara of Hood River, Oregon; Rod Hillmick and wife Terri of Roseburg, Oregon; Rick Hillmick and wife Carmen of Glide, Oregon; sister: Penny Bauer of Roseburg, Oregon; numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins. Donations can be made to the American Diabetes Association of the American Heart Association in Judy's name. Services to be held Saturday, March 9, 2013 at 1 p.m. at Taylor's Family Mortuary in Winston, Oregon.
