Ralph Fred Meier, Sr. was born May 27, 1918 in Scott County, Iowa, the son of Fred and Hilda (Husen) Meier. He served in the United States Navy during World War II and the Korean Era. Ralph then worked as a drivers license examiner for the State of California for 22 years until retirement. He repaired tennis rackets for professionals and amateurs at his home.
He was a member of the the Navy Fleet Association Branch #139 and VFW Post #6874.
Surviving are his wife, Alberta; a daughter, Ruth Steitle and her husband, Richard, Baytown, Texas; a son, Ralph F. Meier, Jr. and his wife, Ruth, Newport, Oregon; two sisters, Luella Burzlaff, DeWitt, Iowa, and Lucille Lee-Petersen, Calamus, Iowa; two brothers, Donald Meier and his wife, Marilyn, DeWitt, Iowa, and Grover Meier and his wife, Lois, DeWitt, Iowa; a sister-in-law, Laura Jean "Babe" Spaete, DeWitt; four grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Ruth, his parents and a borther, Vernon Meier..
