Cassie Jean Haggard-Gill, 59, of Elizabethtown, passed away Wednesday, June 19, 2013, at The Cancer Treatment Center of America in Zion, Ill., surrounded by her husband, children and family.
Born on Oct. 16, 1953, she was the daughter of the late Pope and Alma Jean Haggard. She worked as an assistant manager at Taylor Made Assisted Living in Elizabethtown for 13 years and then became a volunteer with Habitat for Humanity. She enjoyed gardening, camping and boating, and she loved to prepare large meals for her family and friends. Her greatest passion in life was helping other people.

She was preceded in death by her parents and son, Sgt. Matthew Deckard, who was killed in action while serving his country in Iraq in 2005.
Cassie is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 24 years, Glenn Gill; a daughter, Michelle Best; a son, Michael (Penny) Deckard; a sister, Charlotte (Frank) Thompson; and grandchildren Lachelle Best (Marshall Goodman), Chantasia Best, Dustin Taulbee, Briaunna Deckard, Makayla Deckard, Matthew N. Deckard and Austin Deckard. She also will be sadly missed by her beloved fur babies Daisy, Mattie, Cholie and Carley.

The funeral is at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Dixon-Atwood & Trowbridge Funeral Home in Elizabethtown.
Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
