mother of Kathy Elaine b 1958∼Catherine B Green, age 87, of Sylva passed away Wednesday, January 27, 2016 at a local nursing home. She is the daughter of the late Ed and Clearsie Buchanan. She was preceded in death by her husband R.C. Green. Catherine was a lifelong resident of the Greens Creek community and was a member of Greens Creek Baptist Church. She was a homemaker, loving mother and neighbor/friend to all. She also enjoyed spending time in her garden and loved working with flowers.
She was also preceded in death by two brothers Aldon and Donald Buchanan; three sisters Hilda Sutton, Frankie Cowan and Pauline Buchanan Henderson.
A funeral service will be held Saturday January 30, 2015 at 11:00 am at Greens Creek Baptist Church with Rev. Tom Lavin and Rev. Leroy Mobley officiating. The family will receive friends Friday January 29, 2015 from 6:00-8:00 pm at Appalachian Funeral Service. Burial will follow the service at Greens Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.
