MILTON - Elizabeth E. "Liz" Skelly, 82, of Milton, WI, passed away Saturday, June 30, 2007, at Milton Senior Living.
She was born on Jan. 2, 1925, in Milton, WI, the daughter of the late Elwyn and Ethel (McDowell) Johnson. She graduated from Milton High School and later married Donald P. Skelly on April 15, 1944, in Pacific Grove, CA. Liz was a teletype operator for over 25 years at the Janesville Gazette, retiring in 1985. She was a lifelong member of the First Congregational Church in Milton and active with the church circle. Liz was an active member in the Business and Professional Women's Group, Meals on Wheels, Milton Ladies Golf League, and she also enjoyed her bridge club and her activities at The Gathering Place. She always loved being with her family, and enjoyed many outdoor activities such as gardening and walking her dog Wendy.
She is survived by her 4 children: Barb (Jeff) Bolden of Milton, WI, Carol (Terry) Astin of Albany, WI, Dave (Linda) Skelly of Franklin, WI, and Donna (Ron) Hauser of Beaver Dam, WI; 9 grandchildren: Kevin Bolden, Cheryl (Gary) Getchel, Brenda (Chris) Schwartzlow, Jaden Astin, Elizabeth (Troy) Bergum, Nathaniel (Carrie) Astin, Erik Astin, Nicholas (Jenny) Hauser, and Melissa Hauser; 11 great-grandchildren; a brother, Robert Johnson of Plymouth, WI; and a sister-in-law, Betty Jane Johnson of Milton. In addition to her parents, Liz was preceded in death by her brother and sister-in-law, Harvey and Eleanor Johnson; and a brother, Roger Johnson.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 3, 2007, at the First Congregational Church in Milton, with Rev. Herbert Saunders officiating. Burial will be in the Milton Cemetery following the service.
