Bill was born December 21, 1922 in Pomona, KS to Gilbert L and Mildred (Howell) Stone. He served in the US Army. Bill married Susan LaVerne Irvin on July 18, 1944 in Olathe. He worked for several trash services, ending his career in 1982 with Shawnee Mission Disposal. He then drove a water truck in and around Gardner. He lived in rural Stilwell, Olathe and then moved to Spring Hill in the early 70’s. Bill was a member of the Friends Church, Gardner, KS. He had a special gift for making friends. He was on the road daily to visit and talk to his family and friends. He will be dearly missed.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Susan, in 2008, infant son, Gary, son Homer, siblings Helen, Mary, Grace and Bob. Bill is survived by his children: William “Bill” T. Stone and wife Opal, Spring Hill, Sue Stone, Spring Hill, Rose Stone, Lenexa, and daughter-in-law De Etta Stone, KCK; brothers, Herb Stone of Eudora, and Gilbert Stone, Jr. of Lawrence; eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
