John Abderhalden, 61, a resident of the Monticello community for many years, passed away unexpectedly at 1 o'clock Sunday afternoon in the county home, near Monroe, where he had been taken only a day or two before in a somewhat critical condition. He had been ill at his home for a few days before being removed to the county institution. Death was attributed to heart trouble.

The deceased was a native of Switzerland, born in St. Gallen Nov. 19, 1874, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Christian Abderhalden. His marriage to Julia Keller took place in Appenzell March 23, 1896. The couple came to this country in 1910 and settled on a small farm a few miles northeast of Monticello, where they had since resided. The widow is the only surviving relative in this country. They had no children.

Mr. Abderhalden was a member of the Monroe lodge of the Loyal Order of Moose and also of the G. U. G. G. lodge of that city.

Funeral services were held at the home at 1:30 yesterday afternoon, with Rev. A. Muehlmeier, pastor of the Monticello Reformed church, officiating. Burial was in Highland cemetery.
