Leominster-Robert G. Laney, Jr., 66, died suddenly Thursday, December 6, 2012 at Leominster Hospital after being stricken ill. He is survived by his beloved wife of 30 years, Carol (Vaillette) Laney; daughter, Carrie (Laney) Seidl, her husband Jonathan Seidl; and grandson Joshua Seidl, all of Clinton. He leaves two sisters, Pam Laney and Gayle Laney; brother-in-law Donald "Zip" Czepiel, all of Lancaster; several nieces, nephews and many dear friends. He is pre-deceased by two sisters, Carol Czepiel and Cindy LaFontaine.
Bob was born in Clinton to the late Robert and Doris (Morey) Laney. He was raised in Lancaster and was a graduate of the Nashoba Regional High School Class of 1963. Bob enrolled in the Clark University Business School and later enlisted to proudly serve in the Unites States Army National Guard. He began his career with ITT Surprenant, formerly of Clinton, later worked with Standard Sign and was last employed with Mike Weihn Roofing. Bob held membership with Teamsters Local 25 and the Clinton Polish American Veterans. As an avid outdoorsman, Bob and his wife Carol most enjoyed nature hikes and fishing at the Wachusett Reservoir together. Bob and Carol also enjoyed vacationing at Saratoga Springs, New York. He cherished time spent with his family, especially his daughter and grandson and will be dearly missed by all who had the pleasure to have known him. A funeral service will be held at 11AM on Monday, December 10, 2012 in the Philbin-Comeau Funeral Home, 176 Water St., Clinton, with burial to follow in Reservoir Pines Cemetery, Clinton.
