BLUEFIELD — Eugene H. Lester, 82, of 313 Third Street, Bluefield, passed away Jan. 23, 2013 at Westwood Health Care, Bluefield, Va. Born June 2, 1930 in Matoaka, he was the son of the late Theodore C. and Georgia Howard Lester.

Mr. Lester was a retired dispatcher for the Norfolk Southern Railway Company having served 43 years prior to his retirement. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church where he loved to worship and serve the Lord. He was an avid fan of high school basketball, attending the season games and traveling to West Virginia state playoffs, where he made many friends through the years.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife of 56 years, Georgia F. Lester; two sisters, Dorothy Barrow and Mabel Wornal; his brother, Jerry W. Lester; and one grandson, Gary W. Lester.

Survivors include son, Eugene Lester Jr. and wife Sara of Tampa, Fla., William (Randy) Lester and wife Mona of Princeton; sisters, Norma Brown  and husband Ron of Harrisonburg, Va., Sylvia Marshall of Richmond, Va. and Charlotte Mitchell, of  Hopewell, Va.; two granddaughters, Alison Lester and Cindy Lowe; three great-grandsons, Joshua Evans, Caleb and Aaron Lowe; one great-granddaughter, Anna Lowe; special sisters-in-law, Janice Maynard of Pikeville, Ky., Shirley Tincher of Columbus, Ohio; brother-in-law, Tommy  Kimble of Bluefield; and two very special nieces, Dawn Lynette Collins and husband David and Karen Roberts and husband Gene of Pikeville, Ky.

Funeral Services for Mr. Lester will be conducted Sunday, Jan. 27, 2013 at 2 p.m. from the Roselawn Funeral Home Chapel 450 Courthouse Road, Princeton, WV with the Reverend Wayne Jarrett officiating. Burial will follow at the Roselawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
