ELIZABETHTON — Mrs. Frances M. Fowler, 82, of Elizabethton, went home to be with her Lord on Monday, August 29, 2011, at the Johnson City Medical Center Hospital following a brief illness.

She was the daughter of the late Henry and Ethel Clark Mohler and was born in Washington County. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, George Robert Fowler Jr.; a sister, Virgie Jones; and a brother, Ira Mohler.

Mrs. Fowler was a 1962 graduate of East Tennessee State University and was a retired elementary school teacher. During her thirty-six years of teaching she taught both in Mantee County, Florida, where she formerly lived, and Washington County, Tennessee. After she retired from teaching in 2001, she worked as a CNA.

She was a member of T.O.P.S. and Borderview Christian Church.

She is survived by her daughter, Kathy West, Elizabethton; her son, Fred Fowler and his wife, Kathy, Poplar Grove, IL; four grandchildren, Laura Marie West, Kingsport, Michael James West, Elizabethton, Michael Fowler and his wife, Paula, Terre Haute, IN, Eric Fowler and his wife, Rebecca, Waterford, WI; seven great-grandchildren, Heaven Watkins, Alisha Fowler, Nicholas Fowler, Jonathan Fowler, Justin Matthew West, Austin Michael West, Jessee Chandler West; and a sister, Marie M. Campbell, Johnson City. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

The funeral service for Mrs. Fowler will be conducted on Thursday, September 1, 2011, at 7:00 PM in the Tetrick Funeral Home, Riverside Chapel, Elizabethton with Mr. Kirk Langston, Minister, officiating. Music will be under the direction of Scott Reynolds and Ray Don Markland.

The family will receive friends in the funeral home chapel from 5:00-7:00 PM Thursday prior to the service.

The graveside service and interment will be conducted on Friday, September 2, 2011, at 1:00 PM at Monte Vista Burial Park. Active pallbearers will be Billy West Jr., Michael West, Justin West, Austin West and other family and friends. Honorary pallbearers will be Michael Fowler and Eric Fowler. Those wishing to attend are asked to meet at the funeral home at Noon to go in procession to the cemetery.

Those who prefer memorials in lieu of flowers may make donations to the family to help pay the funeral expenses.
