Local Woman Drowns At Madison Hospital

Mrs. Ravia L. Frisbie, 66, widow of Thomas Frisbie, former local merchant policeman, died at a Madison hospital Monday. Death was attributed by John J. Gans, Jefferson county coroner, to accidental drowning after she had slipped and struck her head on a bath tub while bathing.

A resident of this city for 31 years, Mrs. Frisbie, whose home was at 129 Howard street, was born at Newburgh, Warrick county, on August 27, 1889. She was the daughter of Sherman and Ada (Pyeatt) Purdue. Her marriage to Mr. Frisbie took place January 28, 1912, and his death occurred in April of this year.

Two sons also preceded in death, Arthur S., who was killed in an accident while serving with the Army on Okinawa in 1946 and Frank O. Frisbie who died suddenly in 1947. She is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Mildred Owens of Waldron R.R.

Also surviving are four grandchildren and eight brothers and sisters. The latter are: Simon and George Purdue and Mrs. Enid Esche of near Newburgh; Mrs. Lora Sly and Mrs. Beatrice Hensey of California; Mrs. Olive Wilson, and Pyeatt Purdue of Evansville, and Mrs. Marie Westfall of Poseyville.

Mrs. Frisbie was a member of the First Baptist church, the Shelby County War Mothers and the Women's Relief Corps.

Her funeral will be held at the church Thursday with Rev. Melvin R. Phillips officiating. Burial, in charge of the Murphy Mortuary, will be in Forest Hill cemetery.
