George was the son of Robert George McCullough and Rose Veronica Burlando. He was married in Elkton, Maryland on 11 Oct 1939 to Frances M. Watson. In 1940 George was a mail carrier renting a house in North Providence, Rhode Island at 299 Olvey Ave. His income was $1879 per year, and he was living with wife Frances and his mother, Rose McCullough, aged 52. During World War II he served in the Army Air Corps. The family lived in Providence during the 1940s, but then moved to Tucson, Arizona where George worked for Hughes Aircraft in quality control. He retired from Hughes in 1973 and in 1979 the family moved from Arizona to Florida. Fran and George were both amateur radio operators. Their last address in Florida was 170 Sunshine Blvd., Polk City, FL 33868. George and Fran had four children.

George died of congestive heart failure at the Good Shepherd Hospice in Auburndale, Florida. He was cremated, with his ashes scattered.
