William Charles Guy was the son of John A. Guy and Elizabeth J. Thompson Guy. He was a 50-year member of the Masonic Lodge. He was city Superintendent of Mails for several years. He was married to Sarah B. Armitage Guy. Their children are Elizabeth, Harry, Benjamin, Lillian, Helen and Evelyn.

OBITUARY: THE DAVENPORT DEMOCRAT AND LEADER -AUGUST 7, 1944 W.C. GUY, RETIRED POSTAL OFFICIAL, DIES AT AGE 77 (Died August 6, 1944) W. C. (Bill) Guy, former city Superintendent of Mails, died Sunday night in St. Luke's hospital after an extended illness. He was 77 years of age. The family home is at 928 East Fifteenth St. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Tuesday in the Hill & Fredericks Chapel with the Rev. Albert Glaspell officiating. Burial will be in Oakdale cemetery with Trinity Lodge No. 208 A.F.& A.M. in charge. A life resident of Davenport Mr. Guy was born June 30, 1867, and was educated in the city schools. He was employed for a time in the saw mills and later entered the postal service. He served for 17 years as a city carrier, in the days when Davenport was a sprawling city before being assigned to a position in the main post office where he served for 26 years as superintendent of carriers and later as city superintendent of mails. He retired in 1935. An ardent sportsman, Mr. Guy spent much of his spare time hunting and fishing until ill health confined him to his home and later the hospital. He had been a member of the Masonic fraternity for more than 50 years. He also held membership in the Grotto and various postal organizations. He was one of the organizers and early officers of the Post Office Employees Credit Union. Mr. Guy was married to Sarah Armitage in Davenport on Nov 16, 1887. They observed their 56th anniversary last fall. Surviving are the wife; one son, Fire Captain Harry Guy, Moline; four daughters; Mrs. W. A. Ceperley and Mrs. Lillian Roege, both of Davenport; Mrs. Keith Dunn, Cedar Rapids, and Miss Evelyn Guy at home; 5 grandsons all of whom are in the armed service; 6 granddaughters and 4 great grandchildren. A sister Mrs. Lily Bornholdt resides in Mountain View, Cali. His parents, one sister, several brothers, and a son, Ben preceded him in death.
