14 Sep 1956 - D. L. Acklin, age 70 years, a retired carpenter and painter, who resided in Homer for many years and a former resident of Many and Belmont succumbed to a long illness at the family home, Sunday at 2 a.m., Sept. 2.
Funeral services were conducted at 2 o'clock Monday afternoon at the Kerlin Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. V. R. Blizzard officiating, assisted by the Rev. T. W. Barnes of Minden. Interment was made in the Arlington cemetery under the direction of Kerlin Funeral Home.
Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Maude Lee Acklin; three daughters, Mrs. Marshal McComic of Minden, Mrs. Chance Tarpley and Mrs. Lonnie Gordon of Homer; two sons, Drew Acklin, Minden, Louie Acklin of Homer and 17 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. J. L. Morgan of Athens, Mrs. J. F. Craighead, Homer; one brother, Charlie Acklin, Minden and a host of nieces and nephews and friends.
