Herbert Hyland whose death we mentioned last week, was born June 7, 1850, in Sheffield, Lorain county, Ohio. Came to Kansas in 1871, married to Sarah Isabelle Metkeyer on Nov. 14th, 1874. Seven children were born of the first union, 5 boys and 2 girls. His wife, Sarah Isabelle, died Aug. 7th 1895.
He was again married Oct. 20th, 1897, to Stella May Newcomb. Three girls were born of this union.
Mr. Hyland united himself with the Methodist Protestant church in December 1895. The deceased leaves a wife 10 children, also 3 brothers and 2 sisters to mourn his loss.
