Although her greatest joy was being a mother and grandmother, Jane was an avid gardener and reader. If we couldn't find her in the garden, we could find her behind a book. She not only maintained her own showplace gardens, she spent time tending the gardens at Bonsack United Methodist Church from time to time. Her thumb was certainly green! She enjoyed a good political debate and spent many an hour learning about the world and politics by watching news TV. A graduate of the University of Tennessee, where she met her husband Walter, she obtained her degree and was a teacher for many years before becoming a stay-at-home mom to her three daughters. She was a big VOLS fan, particularly in football. She enjoyed music, mostly classical, and always looked forward to visiting the Roanoke Symphony Orchestra. She loved going to see plays as well, whether it be in New York with Walter or here in Roanoke with her daughters. The arts were important to her!
Jane spent her later years at The Glebe in Daleville, where they, along with Dr. Quasir Raza, gave her great care and attention. The family is grateful for their kindness.
