Ludwig saw 28 days actual service in CAPT Peter Bainbridge's Company of the Maryland militia during the French and Indian Wars. He left York County shortly after marriage, moving south to Maryland, and eventually settling in Harbaugh Valley on a farm south of Zollinger, later Sabillasville.
