Miss Barbara Ruth Carey, 64, of southwest Kansas City, passed away on Wednesday at the Truman Medical Center. She was born in Hobart, Oklahoma, and had lived in Kansas City, Kansas, before 1943. In 1951, she moved to Oklahoma City, where she worked for the Catholic Charities until she retired in 1972. She returned to Kansas City in 1983. Miss Carey was a Women's Army Corps veteran of World War II.

She was survived by her mother, Mrs. Barbara Carey, of the home; and a sister, Mrs. Virginia Ann DeCoursey, of Overland Park, Kansas.

Friends called on Thursday evening at the Butler and Son Chapel in Kansas City, Kansas, where the Rosary was said later that night. Services were held on Friday morning at the Butler Chapel, followed by the Funeral Mass at St. Peter's Cathedral. Burial was in Mount Calvary Cemetery.
