Funeral services for Mr. Glenn Murphy, Sr., age 93, are scheduled for 2 p.m. Monday, June 24, 2013 at the chapel of Golden Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be held Monday from 12-2 p.m. at Golden Funeral Home.

Mr. Murphy, a resident of Alexandria, LA, formerly of Bastrop, LA, passed away Wednesday, June 19, 2013 at Christus St. Francis Cabrini Hospital after a short illness.

Mr. Murphy was a native of Hickman County, Kentucky. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II where he met his wife of 57 years, Elizabeth Prince. He was a member of Memorial United Methodist Church and a member of the Modern Woodmen of America. He was a plank owner of the U.S.S. Bancroft and an avid fan of the Louisiana Tech Lady Techsters Basketball team. Mr. Murphy loved growing vegetables and sharing his produce with neighbors and friends. He also enjoyed fishing, hunting, woodworking, and story telling. He loved and was very proud of his family.

Mr. Murphy is preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth Murphy; parents, H.C. and Mae Murphy; sister, Modene Puckett; and brothers, Curtis Murphy and Raymond Murphy.

He is survived by his son, Glenn Murphy, Jr. and wife Kitty; two grandchildren, Mark Murphy and wife Christy, Beth Mahaffey and husband Mark; seven great grandchildren, Karlie Rowley, Nathan Rowley, McKenzie Murphy, Madison Murphy, Charlie Mahaffey, Max Mahaffey, Jack Mahaffey; numerous nieces and nephews; and special friend, Maureen Robertson.

Serving as pallbearers will be Dan Robertson, Elzie Clement, Dany Clawson, Bobby Church, Glen Richardson, Mark Mahaffey, and Mark Murphy.
