Gloria V. Pellegrino-Neal, 92, died peacefully surrounded by her family Wednesday, June 19, 2013.

She was born March 14, 1921, in Des Moines, lived on the "south side," and graduated from Lincoln High School. She worked at Capital City Woolen Mills during the 1950s, and later worked in the Des Moines Public Schools Cafeterias until she retired in 1980.

Gloria attended Pioneer Columbus Senior Center daily while living with her daughter and son-in-law for 25 years. She moved to Ramsey Village in July 2012, where she lived until she broke her hip. She was then transferred to and cared for by the Kavanagh House on 56th Street.

Gloria is survived by her only child, Gloria Jean (Barry) Marr; two grandsons (the "loves of her life"), Mike (Summer) Marr and Matt (Jennifer) Marr; four great-grandchildren, Owen, August, Avery, and Sebastian; sister, Mary Pazzi; as well as several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, David Martin Neal; three brothers, Frank, Pat, and Pete "Buck"; and her four sisters, Julia Romano, Barbara Boggs, Fannie Vivone, and Minnie Vivone.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m., Thursday, June 20, 2013, at Hamilton's Southtown Funeral Home, 5400 SW 9th Street, where the Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m., Friday, June 21, 2013, at St. Anthony Catholic Church, 15 Indianola Avenue, followed by burial at Glendale Cemetery.
