Mary Sue Kerr's earthly burdens have been lifted, and now she is dancing lightly on streets of gold.

Mrs. Kerr, 89, of Bristol, Tenn., died on June 18, 2013, at Broadmore Assisted Living, after a long life dedicated to her loving family.

She was a native of Bristol, and a member of Central Christian Church, and a former member of West Hills Christian Church.

She enjoyed her career with customer service, as a cashier at local grocery stores, in addition to her full time job as a mother.

She is survived by daughters, Linda Shipley (Joe) of Blountville, TN, and Teena Sproles (Harold) of Bristol; sons, Joseph Arrants (Gail) of Concord, NC, and Stephen Arrants (Donna) of Highlands Ranch, CO; grandchildren, Shannon, Matt, Leslie, Kate, Luke, Zackaree, Caleb, Daniel and Jacob; great grandchildren, Eve, Jayden, Emma, Alexis, Isaiah and Layla; stepdaughter, Patrice Stilwell (Barry) of Morrisville, NC and children; stepson, David Kerr (Debi) of Arlington, TX and children; sister, Wilma Haga of Bristol and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Neal M. Arrants, the father of her children; Douglas "Buck" Barnes; and James Kerr. She also was preceded in death by her grandson, Micah Rhea Arrants.

Mary Sue June Thomas Arrants Barnes Kerr, known simply as "Mam-maw" to her grandchildren, always took interest in them, especially in making memories during their "Tennessee visits". She really could show them how to "rough it," and often told them the old Thomas family tales. Dancing and music were her passions in life, and she loved singing for her children and grandchildren, one of her favorites was "Blue Eyes Crying in the Rain." If you're looking for Mam-maw, she's in Heaven now, doing the two-step with Neal. After all, Life is a Dance.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Weaver Funeral Home in Bristol, with service to follow, with Dr. Gary Knapp and Dr. Stan Anderson officiating.

Graveside services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Saturday at Glenwood Cemetery.

The family requests that friends and family wear a touch of red in honor of our mother.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Shriners Hospital for Children in Greenville, SC.

The family would like to thank the staff of Broadmore Assisted Living for all their care, love and support.

Arrangements have been made with Weaver Funeral Home and Cremation Services.
