John Wesley Smoot, 72, of Allen, TX formerly of Scott County, Missouri departed this life on Saturday, June 15, 2013 at Alexandria Assisted Living in Frisco, TX.
John was born on July 24, 1940 in Scooba, MS to Walter Smoot and Willie Bell Carter Smoot. He was the third eldest born to this union. During his young age, the Smoot Family relocated to Missouri. He left Missouri and traveled to Niles Michigan in pursuit of career opportunity which landed him in East Chicago, IN where he remained until retirement.
John leaves to cherish his memory: his children - Allen of Milwaukee, WI, Danny of South Bend, IN, Ronetra "Kissy" of Fort Wayne, IN, and Erica of South Bend, IN; 7 brothers - Mack Smoot of Norfolk, NE, Willie C. Smoot (Ida), of Niles, MI, George Smoot (Ollie) of Marion, IN, James G. Smoot (Carol) of Huntsville, AL, Jesse Lee Smoot of Sikeston, MO, Charles Smoot of Cape Girardeau, MO, and Hubert Smoot (Faye) of Cape Girardeau, MO; 4 sisters - Hattie Pearl Manuel (Ben) of Decatur, GA, Ella Segers-Backus (David) of Oran, MO, Carolyn Smoot of Sikeston, MO, Jean Green (James) of Lucas, TX , and others, Linda Williams of Haywood City, MO, Laura and Sally Sheron of Sikeston, MO. Burial will be at Fairmont Cemetery in Cape Girardeau.
