Interment in New Hope Baptist Church Cemetery in Monticello, LA. under the direction of Brown-Holley Funeral Home, Oak Grove.
Dorothy Matthews was born on January 31, 1924 in Swartz, LA and passed away on Tuesday, June 11, 2013 in Vidor, TX.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence Matthews; six sons and daughters, Baby Girl Matthews (first born); Billy Wayne Matthews; James Marvin Matthews; Terry Lee Matthews; Shelia Jo Matthews; Gwendolyn Sue Crumholt; parents, Joe Clark and Georgia Reavine Coulter; brother, Lloyd Coulter.
Survivors include her four daughters, Pearlie Anne Edwards of Odessa, TX; Patricia Marie Ernest of Denham Springs, LA; Dorothy Lovell of Vidor, TX; Vivian Joyce Dowdle and husband, Wallie of Vidor, TX; four sons, Lawrence Matthews, Jr. of Clarksville, TX; Clark Harrison Matthews and wife, Robbie of Sicily Island, LA; Robert Neal Matthews and wife, Charla of Maracopa, CA; Ronnie Lynn Matthews and wife, Vicki of Rayville, LA; daughter-in-law, Rhonda Matthews of Rosharon, TX; daughter-in-law, Shelia Matthews of LA; sister, Lorraine "Gal" Yates of Lake Providence; sister-in-law, Mildred Coulter of TX; thirty-nine grandchildren; sixty great-grandchildren; seventeen great-great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
