DEATHS
Died, in this city, Tuesday, September 29, 1896, Mr. James F. Smock, aged 62 years.
He had been ill for about a month, but it was not believed that he was in a dangerous condition, as he appeared to be improving under the care of his physicians. But a change for the worse took place a few days before his demise, and it was given out that death might be expected at any house. Physically he had been a very strong men, and even at his age was able to do what younger men might have found it difficult to perform. He was a quiet and even disposition, and respected by all who knew him. He was a native of Kentucky, but had resided in Missouri for many years. He leaves a wife and four children to mourn the loss of a faithful and loving husband and father. The funeral services were held at the family residence, on Thursday morning, being conducted by Elder G.M. Goode, of the Christian church, of which denomination the deceased had long been a devoted member.
