Oscar was raised near the mouth of the Little Robe Creek and attended Bellview School where he graduated from the 8th grade. As a young boy he helped his father round up and drive cattle from south Texas to northern Kansas along the Chisholm Trail. On December 26, 1924 he married Maud Lee Pratt in Arnett, OK and they lived in Higgins, TX before moving to the Crawford area where he remained for the past 50 years and carried out his love of the cattle business by ranching. Oscar was very knowledgable in American Indian and Western history and spent many hours searching for arrowheads and artifacts, many of which he donated to several museums. Oscar enjoyed kids, gardening, animals and life in general. He was probably best known by his friends for his favorite sayings," I did outlive the whole shootin' match" and "How sweet it is."
