Superintendent of the Western Union Telegraph Company's southern division for thirty-five years. Employed by the company for more than fifty years, retired in 1904. Entered the telegraph service in 1852, and during the Civil War was connected with the Confederate telegraph department under General William Mahone. In 1880 he was superintendent of the Western Union in Nashville, Tenn, filled a number of executive positions with the Western Union Company.
Married Fannie Evans and father of two daughters.
